Solar Energy Directory: This is the Solar Energy and Solar Power directory of All Sites Sorted, and is a subsection of the Renewable Energy Online Directory. Solar Energy is one alternative form of renewable energy. Like Wind Power, Solar Energy is geography dependent – areas of higher solar quotient having a greater solar capacity. Among the more popular uses of solar energy and solar power are: harnessing of solar heat, such as for solar pool heating as an alternative to gas or other fossil fuel heating; solar electric generation using solar photovoltaic arrays; power generation in remote areas to run equipment, such as water well pumps; solar-run traffic lights, which are gaining wider acceptance coupled with low power LED bulbs; solar-electric cell transmission spots. Photovoltaics are a technology for converting solar light or radiation to electricity, and can achieve efficiencies of about 15% conversion of the available solar energy to electricity.
